 Aliya Riaz is a BBC-trained broadcast journalist and worked on both radio and television for 10 years until she succumbed to her passion for the decorative arts and spent two intensive years studying interior paint techniques, design and color theory. She earned her certification from London's prestigious City and Guilds Institute.
Aliya is a past-treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Faux and Decorative Artisans Chapter of the PDCA. She has worked as a decorative artist in the U.K. and now runs her own business in New Jersey, working mostly with interior designers in the New York City area. She has been teaching faux finishing, gilding and decoupage at Dundean Studios for the past six years.
