Dean Sickler is the owner and founder (1986) of Dundean Studios. He has been in the painting and decorating business for more than 30 years, having executed faux finish and art commissions from Beverly Hills to Fifth Avenue. Dean has also been active in conservation and restoration work.
Major commissions have included faux marbling in the new House & Senate Virtual Theatre in the Capitol in Washington D.C.; rooms in the Viscaya Museum in Miami, The Craftsman House in Old Charleston and The Thomas Edison House in Llewellen Park, N.J. In addition to being the core instructor at Dundean Studios, Dean has taught courses and workshops in faux finishes and decorative arts at the University of Toronto – Sheridan College, The Isabel O’Neil Studio in New York, and over 300 workshops as guest lecturer on art history, color theory and design, and faux arts around the country. He has a BA in Art and Art History from the University of Toronto. Dean is former President of the Mid-Atlantic Faux and Decorative Artisans Chapter of the PDCA, and serves on the New Jersey District PDCA Board; he is also a Board Member of the Professional Decorative Painters Association. Dean is a member of the prestigious International Decorative Painters Salon and has exhibited and demonstrated in Paris, San Antonio, Brugges, Philadelphia, Utrecht and Chicago.
