Class Description: A trompe l’oeil arched window is fundamental for all muralists and is an excellent illusion for all rooms. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create the perspective necessary in painting an arched window. Techniques for textures, such as wood, brick, mortar and stone are demonstrated and painted. Next, the scenery is painted, including skies, landscape and buildings.

• Linear perspective construction of an arched window
• Painting techniques for skies, landscape, bricks, wood and mortar
Activities:
• Using a yardstick compass
• Determining where to locate the vanishing points
• Drawing linear perspective
• Painting various subjects with fluid acrylics and glaze
• Painting sharp edges and soft edges
Supplies to Bring: Blue painter's tape; brush kit including badger brush, flogger, painting brushes (soft rounds, 1” soft flat, spalter, angled line brush); palette; water container; T-square; pencils (2H-HB); sea sponge; erasers.
Supplies Provided: Mylar, drawing board, yardstick compass, hair dryers.
