Wraps MarApr.indd 10 3/7/08 3:09:04 PM FILM REVIEWS Revolution is Coming An advancement in the in dustry, 3M s Graphics Mar ket Center, St. Paul, Minn., releases a new inkjet lm for extreme ve hicle wrapping 3M Controltac Graphic Film IJ380 that the company says per mits the next leap in vehicle wraps. 3M says the lm, which is a completely new construction, is soft, stretchy and has vir tually no memory, and therefore solves the most dif cult problem in the effec tive wrapping of complex surfaces lift. With our new lm, it s not the adhesive, says Tim Boxeth, marketing supervisor, 3M Graphics Market Center. The character istics of the lm itself make it possible to adhere without the use of adhesion promoters to challenging concave or convex surfaces without lift. The 2-mil cast lm is joined by a com panion 1.2-mil overlaminate with similar characteristics 3M Scotchcal Gloss Overlaminate 8580. The new products carry a three-year 3M MCS Warranty or a three-year 3M Performance Guarantee. Thin is In Evidence points to high customer satis faction with thinner lms. MACtac, Stow, Ohio, reports posi tive response to its 1.5-mil Permacolor RAYZor overlaminating lm which was released more than one year ago. Ac cording to the company, vehicle wrap installers enjoy the thinness of the com pleted graphic believing it dramatically improves conformability, and therefore, application time. Permacolor is high gloss, extremely smooth, and optically clear. We conducted extensive eld and lab oratory testing and evaluation to create the ideal formulation, says Jeff Stadel man, technical marketing manager, MACtac Graphic Products. Compared to all other thickness levels tested, 1.0-mil, 1.3-mil, 1.5-mil, 1.7-mil and 2.0-mil, 1.5-mil was clearly the right choice for performance, property balance and most importantly, lamination. If you want to protect your prints from fading scratching and dirt, or eliminate the hassles of mounting prints by hand... Quickmount 4 is your solution. It has all the features found on more expensive laminators, but costs thousands of dollars less. Ruggedly built from aluminum and steel, features include a heavy duty motor, automatic take up shaft and silicone rollers. Accomadates boards up to 1 thick. Available in 25 , 38 , 55 and 65 widths.
